daraja 7.1

Last week, WordPress 2.7 was released. A complete new admin panel is included that’s just plain faster. Nearly every task you do on your blog will take fewer clicks and be faster in 2.7 than it did in a previous version. I updated just a couple of minutes ago, and everything seems to be working just fine. All my plugins seem to work, so let me know if anything is wrong.

In addition, I installed this fancy plugin called Let it Snow, by Aen Tan. All the wordpress.com blogs get this snow thing automatically until Jan. 2nd and it is not for self-hosted WordPress blogs, Tan whipped up a plugin that does the same. All you need to do is upload the plugin folder to your plugin directory and activate to see falling snow on your blog.

Now for something completely different. Dutch veteran Marco V comes with a new track called ‘A Journey Into Sound‘ (In Charge Recordings, Netherlands). After his massive release with Sander van Doorn, ‘Organic‘, he now comes with another techno/trance banger. This one sided digital release is really worth giving a listen, because the new sound of Marco V is just extraordinary at the moment.

After several remixes and longtime waiting our artist H.O.S.H. releases his next own EP. And he is back with a real banger: ‘Under a Fig Tree EP‘ (Diynamic, Germany)! Three tracks are featured under which ‘The Valve‘; a Balkan flute plays sometimes, but very harmonic to the track. ‘Super Sick Bowl‘ is a fantastic groove, too, but a bit more housy. Awesome, never boring housebeat spiced with two cool and sick breaks. ‘Under a Fig Tree‘ starts more technoid with the sound, but has still a groovy house for 3 minutes until the break – and out of this break a new sound is evolving.

Gerry Menu (real name Remy Unger), was an unfamiliar name for me, before now. Though it’s just an alias for DJ Remy. Recently he released ‘Ketser / Tram‘, which is a very nice tech- / progressive house track released on his own 68 Recordings (a sub label of Armada, Netherlands). This release is a digital only, check it out.

The title ‘Ghost‘ says it all. Christian Burkhardt procudes a deep, eerie and yet funky track. A howling deep Juno 106 synth rises from the deepest nocturnal. The present bassline needs to be checked out on sound systems like Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson, Berlin’s Berghain or London’s Fabric. Without doubt you experience what we are talking about. Amsterdam imprint Remote Area starts the offshoot of Area Remote. Area Remote focus on one-sided collaborations or one day spin offs. Yet more house, sure still sexy releases such as ‘Mumbling Yeah‘, ‘Sexvibe‘, ‘Poppop‘, ‘Borderline‘, and ‘Casamance‘ can confirm to this statement.
