Klaxons – It’s Not Over Yet (Skream remix)

Daraja | June 17, 2008

Skream - Rinse: 02I found this track only yesterday, whilst listening to Benga‘s Essential Mix of 02/02/2008 (which was really good, try dubstepforum.com). It’s a song by a band I used to enjoy really much, called The Klaxons. The song is actually a remix by Skream of It’s Not Over Yet. Really good dubstep remix if I may say so. I thought it was unreleased, but apparently it’s on Skream‘s Rinse: 02 (Rinse Recordings, UK). I should definitely check that album, though the remix is on Skream’s MySpace anyway. Oh, and if you’d like to check The Klaxons, I recommend Atlantis To Interzone and Golden Skans from their debut album Myths of the Near Future. Oh, and here is the Juno link for ya.

Lazy Jay – Tomahawk

Daraja | June 13, 2008

Lazy Jay - TomahawkI think this is his first EP out, and I really reckon it’s an amazing piece of House. Talking about Lazy Jay‘s debut called Tomahawk (Big and Dirty, Holland). The self-titled A-side is actually the best track on this record, I do not fancy the B-side as much. First heard on Tiësto’s club life on 538. Also available from Juno.

En Masse, Surkin, D.I.M.

Daraja | June 7, 2008

En MassePart 5 of my Trashbags Kids blog posts. Previous parts can be found here [1, 2, 3, 4]. Here we go again!

En Masse is an act from Milano, Italy, which you can clearly hear, in my opinion. A great track I fell in love with is called Lime (available on the En Masse EP, Hypotron, Italy), which is available at the Juno Download. Also, apparently, a new album is coming out, called Crush. Not sure when or on which label it is coming out, though it’s a nice lookout. Also a few nice remixes are out, here and there.

Second up, a more familiar name, I guess. Again from the place where a lot of good stuff comes from (yes, we are talking about France), comes Surkin. Some nice tracks are present on his MySpace, under which a remix of Justice. Real steady stuff. I think he is most famous for his Radio Fireworks, which is a really good house track. More of his work is available at Juno Download.

Finally an artist I don’t know so well, who calls himself D.I.M. Not from France this time, but from Hamburg, Germany, there are pumping some nice beats. Just to give a good example: Is You (which is out on Boys Noize records). Really nice track to start his space off with. By the way; really do check Noize, which is almost dub. Amazing track! Even his EPs are available at Juno Download. Very nice.

Fergie – The Me EP

Daraja | June 6, 2008

Fergie - The Me EPSomething different now. I already knew Fergie from the Great Carnival Stuff EP (Great Stuff, Germany), which I liked, but now I properly listened to one of his latest works, called The Me EP (Excentric, UK). For you who think I’m talking about Black Eyed Peas‘ Fergie, are wrong, because this guy is from the UK and makes electronic music. I’m madly in love with the A-side, called Anon. This song is already tracklisted by Markus Schulz, Umek, and others. Check this release at Juno, if you please.

2562 on BBC Radio 1 Experimental

Daraja | June 5, 2008

2562 - AerialLast night, 2562 (as seen live here), did a mix for BBC Radio 1 Experimental (hosted by Mary Anne Hobbs). This mix sort of reflects the set he played at Dub Infusions, the other night, though this set is really techy (with only stuff from his own hand). The other night he also played dubs like Addicts (Benga and Walsh). Anyway, you can rewind the show all week, this week. Oh, and his new album called Aerial will be out somewhere this week as well, on Tectonic, UK. Available at Juno, also.
