Hervé, DatA, The Proxy

Daraja | June 2, 2008

Larry Tee and Princess Superstar - LickyAlright, part 4 of my Trashbags Kids blog posts. Previous parts can be found here [1, 2, 3]. I’m starting to get to the point where the artists get slightly less familiar with me, so hopefully I can still put them in a nice spot.

Starting of with Hervé (London, UK). I got to know him through the remix he did on Larry Tee‘s Licky (Work It Out) (featuring Princess Superstar), great release. The video of this clip can be viewed on YouTube by the way (well worth watching ^^;;). Other stuff I know from him are his remixes of Thriller, Salmon Dance (Chemical Brothers track), and many other songs. Anyway, take a look at Juno (and here too).

Second up, an artists I have not known that long. This guy is from Paris, France calls himself DatA, and is a typical example of the emerging French electro of today. I know he has two EPs out, called the Trop Laser EP (2006) and the Aerius Light EP (2007), both on the Ekler’o'shocK label (France). This is the same label as Danger‘s EP is out, which also explains the remix of 11H30. Check both releases at Juno.

Finally we come to The Proxy, Techno/Electro from Moscow, Russia. There are three releases out, called Destroy (2006), Decoy (2007), and Dance in Dark (2008). All on Turbo Recordings (Canada). Check his releases at Juno Dowload, as well. Plus, he has a new tune coming up, called Raven. You can listen to it a little from Boys Noize live set (Coachella 2008).

Mysteryland 2008

Daraja | June 1, 2008

Mysteryland 2008In continuation of my gigs post, I might as well add a little side note that I’ll be visiting Mysteryland 2008. August 23rd is never going to be the same again, after I’ve seen great names like Sander van Doorn, Roger Sanchez, Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, Martijn ten Velden, Funkerman, Erick E, Gregor Salto, Baggi Begovic, Sidney Samson, Michel de Hey, Booka Shade, 2000 and One, and Boys Noize. Hopefully the weather will be great, and the music as well!

Dub Infusions

Daraja |

Dub InfusionsThough this may sound as another Trashbags Kids post, it’s not. We’re talking about last night out, being one of the best dubstep parties ever. Last night, at the Patronaat, Haarlem, there was Dub Infusions. The ball started with 2562, the crowd was still sort of coming in, but he played a nice steady set. Not too much climaxes, but a well standard. After a while Kromestar took over. Starting really mellow, he worked to a climax, which was really insane, and kept at that climax all the time. Very, very nice set, especially the last half hour was absolutely crazy. And then finally the man Benga did his thing. Lots of new material, every song a massive bomb. Filthy, filthy beats. So sorry I don’t have a tracklist, but he played quite a few songs from Diary of an Afro Warrior, as well as from Newstep. Also did his new Benga’s Off His Head, which was a delight to hear.
